Your files. Your device.

Privacy Policy

Opening a medical image should not mean handing over your study. Here is how local viewing and the website itself handle data.

Last updated:

1. Files you open in the viewer

The viewer reads files you explicitly select or drag onto the page. It uses their pixels and metadata, such as study and series information, to display the study in your browser. It does not need an account or a server upload for this workflow.

Studies opened in the current viewer are held in browser memory. Reloading or closing the page ends that viewing session; your original files on disk are unchanged. The viewer is not a backup service. Images or identifying text displayed on screen can still be captured by screenshots, screen sharing or other software on your device.

2. Website delivery and analytics

The website is hosted and protected by Cloudflare. When your browser requests a page or asset, Cloudflare receives network information such as your IP address, request URL and browser headers to deliver content and protect the service.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page visits and browser performance. Reports can include page paths, referring websites, country, browser and device categories, and loading or interaction timings. These measurements are separate from the DICOM files you open. We do not add your file names, patient identifiers, study identifiers, DICOM metadata or image pixels to analytics.

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use analytics cookies to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare security features may use cookies when a browser verification or challenge is needed. Hosting and security data is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy; see also Cloudflare Web Analytics.

Some image-decoding components may be downloaded from the jsDelivr content delivery network. Such a download sends the provider ordinary network request information, not the DICOM study being decoded. jsDelivr's privacy policy explains its handling of those requests.

3. Browser storage and your device

Your browser may cache website code and images to speed up future visits. The current local file viewer does not automatically save imported studies to a persistent browser archive. Clearing site data through your browser settings removes cached site data; it does not delete your original DICOM files.

Use a trusted device and browser. If you share a device, close the viewing session when finished and follow your organization's rules for handling medical information.

4. Your choices and external services

You decide which files to open. You can use the viewer without registering, and you can stop the session by closing or reloading the page. Browser privacy tools may block performance analytics.

Links to Cloudflare, jsDelivr and other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies. Direct support and file-submission forms are not currently available on this website.

Local processing is one part of protecting medical information. This policy does not certify the service or a particular workflow as HIPAA, KVKK or other regulatory compliant. onlinedicom is not a certified medical device.

5. Questions and policy updates

Current help and contact availability is listed on our help page. Website analytics does not provide a personal account in which your studies are stored.

We will update this page when the site's data handling changes. The date above identifies this version.
